I think it is only fitting to give this
weeks award to Mr. Williams (and his family) for the wonderful gift he
gave the world with his light show synchronized to Trans-Siberian
Orchestra's "Wizards in Winter". The skill that Mr. Carson has and the
time and resources he took to produce this spectacular still amazes me.
I wish he had not had to stop running it (it was stopped for safety
issues regarding traffic in his neighborhood) but I understand that
safety comes first.
The story made national and local news and has become a web icon. Everyone I have talked to has seen this and the geeks I know are very envious. I am sure next year there will be many copy cats, but none will match Mr. Williams' masterpiece.
Carson Williams, is an electrical engineer from Mason, Ohio . His 2005 display includes over 25,000 lights that he spent nearly two months and $10,000 to hook up. So that the Williams' neighbors aren't disturbed by constant noise, viewers driving by the house are informed by signs to tune in to a signal broadcast over a low-power FM radio station to hear the musical accompaniment.
Carson's Christmas display was even featured in a Miller Lite beer commercial in December 2005. WOW!
In case you have not seen the show, here it is.
